Pollen
Pollen is a fine, powdery substance that trees, grasses and flowers release as part of how they reproduce. Wind and insects carry it from one plant to another. For most of us it is invisible background noise. For many people it is the reason spring and summer bring sneezing, itchy eyes and congestion, as the immune system mistakes these tiny particles for a threat.

Air quality
The number, and what is behind it
An air quality index is a national judgement rather than a measurement, so the same air is labelled differently in Delhi, Beijing and Denver. Atmos shows the concentrations underneath and grades them the way your country does.
- PM2.5, PM10, NO₂, O₃, SO₂ and CO in µg/m³
- An alert up to two hours before PM2.5 is forecast to spike near you, judged against your own country's threshold
- Local standards where they differ, including India's CPCB, China's HJ 633 and Thailand's PCD
- Hourly forecasts so you can plan around the peak
