🌍Real-time Air Quality Index

Understanding the air you breathe, updated in real-time

What is AQI?

The Air Quality Index (AQI) is a standardized indicator that tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you.

The AQI focuses on health effects you may experience within a few hours or days after breathing polluted air. It considers several major air pollutants regulated by the EPA and WHO:

  • Particulate Matter (PM2.5 and PM10)
  • Ground-level Ozone (O₃)
  • Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂)
  • Sulfur Dioxide (SO₂)
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO)

Think of the AQI as a yardstick that runs from 0 to 500. The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and the greater the health concern.

How Often We Update

Our air quality data is updated every hour to ensure you always have the most current information about your environment.

Real-time Updates

Air quality measurements are refreshed hourly from monitoring stations worldwide, giving you near real-time insights.

Data Latency

Depending on the location and data source, there may be a 15-60 minute delay between measurement and display.

Understanding the Numbers

The AQI is divided into six categories, each corresponding to a different level of health concern:

0-50Good

Air quality is satisfactory, and air pollution poses little or no risk.

Perfect for outdoor activities. No health concerns for any population group.

51-100Moderate

Air quality is acceptable for most people. However, sensitive individuals may experience minor effects.

Generally safe for outdoor activities. Unusually sensitive people should consider reducing prolonged or heavy exertion.

101-150Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups

Members of sensitive groups may experience health effects. The general public is less likely to be affected.

Children, elderly, and people with respiratory conditions should limit prolonged outdoor exertion.

151-200Unhealthy

Everyone may begin to experience health effects. Sensitive groups may experience more serious effects.

Everyone should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion. Sensitive groups should avoid it entirely.

201-300Very Unhealthy

Health alert: The risk of health effects is increased for everyone.

Everyone should avoid prolonged or heavy exertion. Move activities indoors or reschedule.

301+Hazardous

Health warning of emergency conditions: everyone is more likely to be affected.

Everyone should avoid all outdoor exertion. Remain indoors and keep activity levels low.

Taking Action Based on AQI

Understanding the AQI is just the first step. Here's how you can protect yourself and your loved ones:

🏃Outdoor Activities

  • Schedule outdoor exercise during times of better air quality
  • Choose low-intensity activities when AQI is moderate or higher
  • Take breaks in air-conditioned spaces during poor air quality days

🏠Indoor Protection

  • Keep windows and doors closed when outdoor AQI is high
  • Use air purifiers with HEPA filters in your home
  • Avoid activities that increase indoor pollution (candles, frying)

😷Personal Protection

  • Wear N95 or KN95 masks when AQI exceeds 150
  • Stay hydrated to help your body process pollutants
  • Consult your doctor if you have respiratory conditions
